At Loudoun Habitat for Humanity, we believe that everyone deserves a decent place to live. We offer individuals and families a hand-up, not a hand-out through our Home Ownership and Home Repair Programs. Habitat for Humanity is not a giveaway program. Through the volunteer labor and donations of money and materials from local individuals and businesses, Loudoun Habitat builds new homes, rehabilitates homes, and repairs existing homes.
Our Home Ownership Program partners with families that buy the houses that are built or renovated. Habitat does not make any profit on the sale. In the United States, Habitat homeowners purchase their houses through affordable monthly mortgage payments. Habitat homeowners also invest hundreds of hours of their own labor, called sweat equity, working alongside volunteers and other Habitat homeowners. Loudoun Habitat for Humanity’s 2017 Home Repair Program covers tasks such as: exterior painting, shell material repairs, landscaping, building or repairing ramps or sheds, building or repairing a porch or deck, gutter repair and cleaning, sidewalk repair, and other external cleanup.
We are dedicated to partnering with hard working individuals and families to attain and maintain affordable housing. Our partners are qualified through a comprehensive process that evaluates:
- Need for affordable housing and repairs;
- Willing to partner through volunteer labor; and
- Ability to pay based on family size and income
